This keynote addresses and discusses some of the new possibilities of how we can embrace the openness in education to help continuously build the foundation and infrastructure for providing more personalized, flexible, and on-demand educational services. It also shares and examines some pioneer and exemplary efforts in inventing the “next generation” higher education and explores how we can create an ecosystem that enables universities and colleges to build necessary capacity for professional development and educational support, especially in terms of promoting the sustainable development and mobility of human resources. Finally, how we can deal with some of the challenges in relation to “free trade” in globalized higher education and how best we can share and accumulate educational resources and knowledge of practice will be explored and examined.
