Description
This course guide introduces learners to concepts and theories that will help to understand and analyse various aspects of the applications of the database system. Unit 1 provide an overview of DBMSs and gives examples where DBMSs are applied. Unit 2 reviews integrity constraints and relationship algebra that make up the relational model. Unit 3 introduces some basic SQL commands to retrieve and manipulate data from database. Unit 4 discuses the database design issues of entity-relationship modeling and normalisation. The last unit discusses file organisations and guides in SQL programming to meet business process needs.
