	<swrc:abstract xml:lang="en">In this paper, the author attempts to provide the significance of the Bhagavad-Gita to the field of human resource development (HRD). HRD revolves around learning, training, development and education to enhance competencies and performance of employees in organizations. There is abundance of theories developed on HRD from various perspectives, viewpoints and disciplines, with the most of the theories originating from the West. In the Bhagavad-Gita (a text originating from the East), that author noticed that some of the basic components of HRD philosophy are present. </swrc:abstract>
